Strata Support: Track Is Missing From Strata Vision

Q: I've added Strata Track to a track in my DAW, but the track is not appearing in Strata Vision.

A: There are three main reasons why this might happen:

1. You are running Strata Prime and you have reached your limit of eight tracks.

2. You are running more than one instance of Strata Vision. If you do this, when you add and instance of Strata Track, it will connect to just one of the two instances of Strata Vision. If you are looking at the other one, the track will be missing. In theory, when you run Strata Vision , it should warn you if another instance of Strata Vision is already running. However, this warning feature has not yet been implemented. In particular, there have been a couple of people who have run Strata Vision in one DAW (e.g. Logic Pro) and then left Pro Tools running and then run Strata Vision in another DAW (e.g. Ableton) and then been puzzled that the instances of Strata Track in Ableton aren't turning up in the instance of Strata View in Ableton! It is, perhaps, reasonable to expect that Strata's communication will be quarantined within each DAW, but that's not how Strata works! Instances of Strata Track and Strata Vision communicate using the TCP network protocol, which is operates entirely independently of any DAW. This means that you can have instances of Strata Track running in Logic Pro and view the spectra of those tracks in an instance of Strata Vision running inside Ableton! So if you put Strata Track on a track in your DAW project and it doesn't show up in Strata Vision, then check to ensure that there isn't another instance of Strata Vision in the same DAW project or in a different DAW on the same computer. If you are unsure of this, and are not sure what to do to solve the problem, one solution is to change the instances of Strata Track and Strata Vision that you are currently focused on to a different Strata Realm. You can change the realm using the Realm control panel view.

3. Some third party software is using the TCP port that Strata normally uses. By default, Strata operates in Strata Realm 001 which uses TCP ports 61180 through 61189. If some other software is using one or more of these TCP ports (and in particular port 61180), then this could interfere with the communication between instances of Strata Track and Strata Vision. If this is the case, then the solution is simple: just change all your instances of Strata Track and Strata Vision to a different realm. You can do this using the Realm control panel view in Strata Track and Strata Vision. In particular, you can test whether this is going to work by changing Strata Vision's realm and ONE instance of Strata Track's realm. If the track shows up in Strata Vision then you know it's working and can confidently change the realms of all the other instances of Strata Track.

If all else fails, you can create a Support Conversation.
